My point is I never really considered asking you. But it was the last high school dance ever. We were a bunch of us, just talking. You surrounded by a group of girls: what a surprise! These ended up being people who would later hate your guts. But the girls and the guy who would later become “one of the girls” decided it was time to dance. On a whim, I decided to ask you to join us. That’s really not like me. I’m a shy person around people I don’t know well, especially boys. But you said yes. You came to join us. At one point I reached for your hand, because it’s so natural in an all-girls school. And then I realized that maybe it would be weird so I quickly pulled my hand back and blushed. Luckily, you couldn’t see that because it was so dark. My friend was almost giddy that I had asked you. Mainly because it meant I was forgetting about “her man.” Whom, for the record, wasn’t hers at the time. So I still don’t understand why she was so mad at me. Not the point.
